Socially Responsible Investment
We see sustainability as fundamental to the needs of tomorrow’s world, and it demands a new way of investing. At Santander Asset Management we are committed to this change, and we see Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) as a source of value for investments. Our strategy reflects our commitment both to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to the Paris Climate Agreement’s goals to combat climate change and adapt to its effects.
Santander Asset Management has joined the global Net Zero Asset Managers initiative as part of its commitment to fighting climate change. Operating in 10 countries, it aims to have net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and is the first Spanish asset manager among the 73 signatories to the initiative. Its decision is consistent with Banco Santander's push for leadership in sustainability. The decision is part of Banco Santander's firm commitment to be a global leader in sustainability, which is also committed to net zero emissions by 2050, supporting by first decarbonization targets.
Santander Asset Management has a full-time dedicated SRI expert team - responsible for developing and implementing our ESG analysis methodology. They go beyond industry benchmarks to bring added insight and conviction. Embedding ESG criteria enables our managers to identify crucial elements that determine competitive advantages and flag potential risks, giving them a more complete understanding of the assets analysed and enabling them to make better informed investment decisions.
