Jacobo Ortega is the current CIO for Europe at Santander Asset Management, and is also directly in charge of the Spanish Investment Office and coordinating the Global ESG initiative.

Before joining SAM in 2018, he was Executive Director at Ronit Capital LLP, where he headed Equity Research activities for Europe and Latam, covering such sectors as Financials, Consumer and Technology. Previously, Jacobo spent 10 years at Banco Santander S.A. in a number of positions. In 2006, he started in Banif, Santander’s former private banking arm, in the Ultra High Net Worth team. In 2008, he joined Santander’s Strategic Investments department as joint manager of the Group’s industrial portfolio. As manager of Carmosa Sicav, Jacobo Ortega was ranked Best Spanish Fund Manager in the Extel survey in 2016 and appeared in the top ten for five consecutive years. In 2015, he was promoted to the Group executive chairman’s office, where he led several strategic projects.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from the Madrid Complutense University.
