Eduardo Castro is the SAM Chief Investment Officer for Latin America, overseeing investment operations in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
Prior to his current role, he was the Chief Investment Officer for Brazil and before that, since 2011, he was CIO for equities and fixed income. He joined Santander Asset Management as head of Fixed Income in August 2007, when Santander Group acquired ABN AMRO Asset Management. He has been involved in the investment sector for over 26 years, having begun his career in 1994 at OptiRisk Investment Fund, an emerging markets fund management firm, where he was responsible for trading and asset price modelling. In 1999, Eduardo joined ABN AMRO Asset Management in Brazil, where he was responsible for most of that firm's Brazilian mutual funds, ranging from money market and fixed-income funds to balanced and local hedge-fund-like funds.
Eduardo holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and completed graduate studies in Business Administration at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) in Brazil. He also holds an EMBA from Business School São Paulo (Brazil), part of which was undertaken at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto (Canada).
